The D7 is not meant for people working remotely for companies outside Portugal: the D8 visa exists for that.

How much income do I need for the D7 in 2026?
The main applicant must show at least €920 a month (the 2026 minimum wage). Add 50% (€460) for each additional adult and 30% (€276) for each child.
What income counts?
Stable, regular income such as pensions, rental income, dividends, interest or intellectual property. We review your paperwork in the complimentary assessment.
Can I work remotely on a D7?
The D7 is not designed for remote work for foreign companies. The right visa for that is the D8.
When can I apply for permanent residence?
After 5 years of legal residence, provided you meet the other requirements (including A2 Portuguese).
