D6 Family Reunification Visa

The D6 Visa, known as family reunification, allows family members of Portuguese citizens or legal residents in Portugal to come to live legally in the country, maintaining family unity.

Who can request:

Spouse or partner in a de facto union (proven for more than 2 years);
Minor children, dependent adult children studying in Portugal or legally recognized adopted children;
Direct descendants (parents or grandparents) who depend on the resident;
Minor siblings under the tutelage of the resident, recognized by the authority of the country of origin;
Minor or incapacitated children of the partner, legally entrusted.

To apply, it is necessary to meet the 2026 requirements:

Income: the sponsor must prove at least €920/month, plus sufficient resources for family members;
Housing: offer housing suitable to Portuguese standards;
Process: the application starts at the Portuguese consulates abroad and is completed in Portugal via the AIMA system (Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum).

This visa ensures that the family can live together legally, with access to health, education and work services in Portugal.
